課程概述 |
The aim of this course is to provide a general understanding of speech motor control with regards to physiological bases and functions of human articulatory system. The course starts with visiting the area of motor control for body and speech movements. Crucially, both body and speech motor control rely on feedback regulation and feedforward control. In this course, we will learn the role of feedback and feedforward control in speech production. The discussion on physiological bases of our articulatory system is also tied with neurological functions. These accounts shed light on biological foundation of language acquisition as well as optimize treatments of disorder.
This course is designed as a research seminar; extensive readings and in-class discussion are expected. Previous experience in LING 300 level of phonetics and phonology is strongly recommended. Students with physiology, medical, health sciences, dental background are particularly welcome. |
